Meet our Fellows : Alexis Fontbonne (SocMed)

📚 When sociology meets the Middle Ages…

Let’s take a step back in time with Alexis Fontbonne.

His project explores the sociology of the ecclesial field in the Middle Ages—a continuation of the work he began in his book Introduction à la sociologie médiévale.
🔍 Drawing inspiration from thinkers like Max Weber and Pierre Bourdieu, Alexis is using modern sociological tools to revisit medieval beliefs and institutions, shedding light on the role and power of the Church in shaping society.

By connecting contemporary research methods with historical insights, this work brings a fresh perspective to a period we think we know.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska Curie grant agreement No 101034383
